This is a key leadership position responsible for leading operations in a brand new, state-of the art cold storage facility. Accountability You will be focused on ensuring a smooth operation by monitoring day to day workflow, making process improvements, managing the budget, and ensuring peak efficiency. You will also be accountable for maintaining a safe and productive work environment, improving profitability and ensuring all orders are received and shipped within the customer’s expected delivery time and specifications. You will have up to two groups of direct reports: (1) warehouse supervisors (2) warehouse associates. You will have significant discretion on building your team with the right capabilities to achieve success. You will also be highly focused on customer satisfaction and relationship building, with a focus on developing current customer relationships, as well as developing new customers. Responsibilities Operations and Inventory Management (30%)
Own the results under your area of responsibility.
Drive, develop, and implement the business plan for the area of responsibility to achieve facility goals (e.g., production, quality, safety) to establish, monitor, and implement operational improvements and meet operational metrics.
Establish metrics and KPIs to gauge the performance of the warehouse and team and drive improvements.
Plan and schedule all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to drive flawless execution and ensure customer requirements are met.
Ensure current and accurate inventory control for each account.
Ensure that customer orders are picked and shipped in a timely fashion within prescribed cost levels with 99.99% accuracy
Develop and implement an effective receiving operation that minimizes cost and ensures receiving paperwork is processed accurately and promptly.
Labor Management and Safety (30%)
Forecast and follow up on staffing, workload and performance to meet business demands for workload and performance results
Direct and oversee job assignments. Direct and train warehouse personnel to achieve established objectives.
Lead warehouse employees, managing work, driving high performance, addressing employee issues, and ensuring safe operation of equipment.
Build and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations and company policies.
Complete proactive safety checks, investigate near misses/accidents, conduct safety training, and implement identified safety improvements.
Administration Functions (15%)
Participate in budget preparation, revenue and account analyses
Manage assigned financial aspects by monitoring and tracking expenses compared to budget; monitoring asset utilization; and preparing, reviewing, and/or analyzing business reports or budgets.
Actively suggest areas of improvement, and take ownership to deliver results against targets
Relationships (10%)
Build strong business relationships with customers
Audit operations to ensure service standards are being met.
Establish customer relations training programs for all front-line personnel.
Work with other departments seamlessly to ensure coordination needed for overall effective operations.
Work to create harmony with the team and ensure team cohesion.
Build strategic relationships with staffing agencies, manufacturing associations, and other community or industry resources
Sales (10%)
Take leads from sales team to evaluate potential customers and help close deals.
Help articulate our service model, quality, safety, and other standards to the customer as needed.
Security (5%)
Assist in ensuring the security of the facility, its environment, employees, and contents.
Conduct regular instruction in good security practices.
Escalate security issues immediately
Qualifications Education: College Graduate (preferred). Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years previous experience in a similar position. Knowledge/Skills:
A comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations is necessary with a focus on cold storage warehouse operations.
A working knowledge of DATEX (strongly preferred) or warehouse management systems is a must.
A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
Demonstrated ability to critically think through complex issues and contribute at a strategic level.
Must be able to give and receive innovative, creative, and helpful feedback for team growth and productivity.
Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units throughout the company.
Knowledge of warehouse management software systems, computer programs (Footprint, Excel, Word, & Outlook), inventory management.
