SUMMARY: The Scribe is responsible for assisting healthcare providers by documenting patient interactions and maintaining accurate medical records. This role involves real-time transcription of patient visits, managing electronic health records (EHR), and supporting the clinical team to enhance workflow efficiency and patient care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document Patient Encounters: Accurately and efficiently document patient history, physical exam findings, procedures, lab results, and any other pertinent information during patient visits.
Manage EHR: Ensure all information is correctly entered into the EHR system, update patient charts, and maintain the integrity of medical records.
Support Clinical Workflow: Assist healthcare providers by preparing charts for upcoming patient visits, organizing, and updating medical information, and retrieving patient records as needed.
Coordinate Patient Care: Facilitate communication between providers, patients, and other medical staff to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, and managing patient referrals.
Confidentiality and Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of patient information. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current with EHR systems, medical terminology, and best practices in clinical documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education:High school diploma, GED or equivalent; some college or a degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
Experience: Previous experience as a scribe, medical transcriptionist, or in a clinical setting is highly desirable. Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR systems (preferably Athena), medical terminology, and Microsoft Office Suite. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers, staff, and patients. Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation. Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.

Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment
Moderate physical activity. Required handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
