REPORTS TO: General Manager STATUS: Exempt JOB SUMMARY North Star Lodging Management is seeking a qualified individual to assist in leading the operation of the Fairfield by Marriott Morganton Historic Downtown as the Assistant General Manager. The hotel has 85 rooms, an outdoor pool, fitness center, meeting room, 3rd-party operated on-site bar, and is located in the historic downtown area. As the Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for providing oversight and staff management for all functions within the hotel operation including Front Office, Housekeeping and Breakfast. You will strive to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction, and to maximize the financial performance of the departments, while ensuring that standards and procedures are consistently being followed. You should also display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong customer-service. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Associates degree from an accredited college or university required
Minimum (4) Four years of experience in a hotel management role, with at least (2) two years in hotel operations and or front desk/guest services supervision required
Individuals with Marriott and/or Fosse PMS experience preferred
Highly energetic and motivated individual
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong sales and marketing abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
DUTIES
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Comply at all times with North Star Lodging Management/Marriott standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Fully comprehend and execute all relevant phases of the front desk computer system.
Have knowledge of all rates, packages, and promotions currently underway and provide analysis as to how these entities are performing or develop new entities for implementation.
Follow and enforce all North Star Lodging Management/Marriott hotel credit policies.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients.
Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel (set example for other employees, be the team leader).
Assist the General Manager in ensuring that employees are following and maintaining North Star Lodging Management/Marriott standards (i.e., answering phones, call-backs to guests, guest request log).
Maintain knowledge of and assist in all emergency procedures as required.
Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and all other employees.
Ensure the maximization of room revenue through Rooms Merchandising.
Be involved in departmental meeting, planning and execution.
Respond to brand guest surveys and educate front desk team on hotel performance
Assist the General Manager in interviewing, hiring, and training all associates.
Assist the General Manager in managing all operational departments at the hotel, including front desk/GSR, rooms, F&B, and maintenance departments according to brand and North Star Lodging Management standards.
Assist in performing required annual Quality Audit with GM Reviewing financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement
Flexible and long hours sometimes required depending on coverage needs
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
