Job Description:
The ASL Interpreter provides ASL language interpretation for patients, families, and staff.
Position Details:
This is a full time 32 hour /week position. There is some flexibility on the hours, but incumbent will typically work Monday-Thursday from 0800-1630. This position is on-site only and will cover ASL interpretation needs in Utah County, Salt Lake County and Summit County. There are no on-call requirements at this time but they may be required in the future.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess and maintains certification issued or recognized by the Division of Services to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Professional Level Utah Interpreter Program (UIP), or acceptable National Organization such as RID or NAD.
- Excellent command of both source and target language. Performs consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation with a high degree of accuracy in both languages.
- Demonstrated linguistic and cultural competence, and intermediate level proficiency of medical terminology.
- Must work effectively in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Note: Employee will successfully complete the following within six months of hire: Intermountain's medical interpretation exam and Qualified Bilingual Employee course. If exam or course is not passed, employee will be removed from the position.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
