Animal Caretaker
***Candidates will only be considered if they have had paid or volunteer animal experience and live in the area *******IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION**
Our facility houses a variety of animals, big cats, small cats, primates, rodents, marsupials, birds, reptiles, dogs and cats. .
Job duties consist of but are not limited to;1. Daily inspections of animals and documentation.2. Preparation of food for animals. 3. Cleaning of exhibits and food prep areas.4. Operant conditioning of the animals and behavioral enrichment..5.Physical Demands- Work in all weather elements, lift 50 pounds and be able to move heavier items with assistance and do repetitive physical work such as raking and shoveling. Walk briskly or run if needed. 6. Assist with veterinary care, administrating medications.7. Assist with building and erecting of new exhibits and reconstruction and repair of existing exhibits and buildings.9. Maintenance of grounds in and around exhibits.
Experience- One year of paid professional experience at a public zoo, wildlife park, animal facility or similar institution and a demonstrated knowledge of zoological operations. Hard worker, reliable and trust worthy. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and/or weekends and holidays.
Guest/Customer Service Skills— must have knowledge of principles for providing quality customer service. This includes understanding guest needs, meeting quality standards for service and guest satisfaction.
Pre Employment Testing- Successful candidates may be asked to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Requirements- Must be 18 and demonstrate the ability to lead and work as a part of a team in a constantly changing environment as well as individually, with a minimum of supervision. Must live with in the high desert area. A valid driver’s License with a good driving record.
Compensation – $16-$17 per hour depending on experience- Vacation times and dates must be requested and approved by management. No medical or relocation benefits.
