Bonhams

London

FULL TIME

Valuation Management System Coordinator

About Bonhams
Bonhams is a global auction house with an 18th century heritage poised for transformative change. Our global operations are based in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong where we sell in over 60 categories, including motor cars, paintings, jewellery, and entertainment memorabilia.

About the Team
Bonhams receives around 100,000 valuation enquiries globally each year. Bonhams Valuation Management System (VMS) forms an effective and efficient consignment tool for our business and the VMS Support Team will play an integral role in managing the flow of enquiries through the business.

About the Role
In your role as Valuation Management System Coordinator, you will be responsible for reviewing and efficiently triaging valuation enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with your team to efficiently review and triage all valuation enquiries, forwarding them on to the relevant expert department, regional office, or local representative as appropriate.
  • Issue ‘no sale value’ communications to clients where their item is not suitable for sale at Bonhams.
  • Work with individual expert departments to proactively manage their enquiries pipeline, mitigating bottlenecks and ensure an efficient speed of response time.
  • Work with individual expert departments to follow up and track high value submissions onwards, particularly those taken offline and managed manually by expert departments.
  • Work with expert departments and Business Intelligence to identify opportunities for improvement around speed of response time and conversion rates from enquiry to consignments.

About You
You will have a broad, generalised understanding of different fine art genres and object types, most likely gained through practical experience within a regional or global auction house, an appraiser (US only), museum or art gallery.

You will have some client facing experience and will be comfortable communicating with clients via email and over the telephone, as well as liaising with internal colleagues and stakeholders.

You will have a practical, can-do approach and be able to seek out further information where required. You are able to work independently, as well as part of a wider team, and to manage your time efficiently.

We are able to consider flexible working requests for these roles. These roles are not location specific and can either be based out of a Bonhams central or regional office location, or work from home, or a combination of the two. Some European travel may very occasionally be required.

Key Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience in a Client Services, Valuations or Appraisals team
  • General knowledge of the different fine art genres and object types
  • Self-motivated and with excellent organisational skills
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
  • Fluency in French would be a strong advantage in this role

What we offer
Some of our benefits and perks include:
  • 28 days holidays (including Bank Holidays), increasing to 33 with service
  • Healthcare and Life Assurance
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Season Ticket Loan

If you wish to apply, please send your CV and cover letter by the 24th November 2024 at midnight.

We thank you for your interest in this position but please note that we will only contact candidates chosen for further consideration.

Bonhams is an Equal Opportunity Employer. As part of our commitment to fight for equality, we work to ensure a fair and consistent interview process. We celebrate diversity and we are committed to an inclusive work environment.
