Assisting Students Creatively (ASC) is a Non-Medical Help (NMH) company providing support to disabled students in Higher Education. Due to expansion we are looking for support workers throughout the academic year.
We are seeking an experienced Study Assistant to support students in the Wrexham area. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a background in working with students with disabilities and/or specific learning difficulties. They must be compassionate and understanding, while maintaining professionalism. The role of a Study Assistant involves assisting students practically with their studies, in areas such as: attending lectures and seminars, organisation of tasks, retrieving books from the library, notetaking, time management and planning. Skills and Experience should include:
Experience in communicating and working with people who have Special Educational Needs, or an interest in and an enthusiasm in learning how to assist people with disabilities.
Have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills.
Must be extremely reliable.
Must have an excellent knowledge of the English language
Must be able to work flexibility to support students’ needs.
Must be able to maintain a confidential and professional working relationship.
Be able to identify ways of assisting students to enhance their own learning to complete their academic studies.
Requirements
Proven experience in an educational / teaching / tutoring role is preferred.
Strong communication skills with the ability to empathise with others.
Excellent punctuality.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new skills as required.
