SENIOR OPERATOR GRADE 3 (Automation)

This position is assigned to the automated production equipment to support machine operation and some maintenance requirements of the machine. In addition, this position serves as a point of contact for maintenance, engineering, and production to help ensure optimal performance of a machine.
Duties will include:
- Performs all aspects of operating a designated production machine in a GMP environment, including interfacing with control panels, raw material loading, removal of scrap material, process control testing, product inspection, completing associated documentation, in-process testing, and any other activities necessary to build product.
- Complete all batch start-up activities on designated manufacturing machinery including area clear checks and documentation.
- Perform duties in compliance of current Good Manufacturing Practice, following SOPs, completing documentation contemporaneously.
- Completes routine equipment changeovers in an efficient manner with minimal impact to production output.
- Engages in Total Preventative Maintenance activities within area of responsibility with a high degree of quality and reliability.
- Conducts basic troubleshooting and corrective maintenance, relying on maintenance technicians for technical problems beyond training and certification.
- Assists maintenance technicians with preventative or corrective maintenance tasks.
- Works with and assists engineers and technicians in problem solving of quality and safety, production process, and raw material issues.
- Takes ownership for automated production machinery, including safety, efficiencies, and product quality.
- Communicates problems or potential problems in any of these areas to supervisor, maintenance, or engineering personnel, and stops production as needed.
- Proactive reporting Health & Safety issues.
- Directs other operators on various production and maintenance activities.
- Interfaces frequently with computer and understands navigational functions with HMI's (Human Machine Interface).
- Looks for opportunities to optimise processes, driving cost-awareness and innovation.
- Provide training to other operators ensuring operating competence is sustained.
- Liaise with stores and material handlers to ensure a steady flow of material into the production/equipment areas.
- Ability to increase knowledge and competency in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- May assist with covering areas in material handling and inspection as directed by business need.
- Be able to work shifts/overtime and be flexible to work any shift or area to meet business needs.

Essential Criteria:
- Possess good numeracy and literacy skills, i.e. minimum secondary-level education
- Experience of working in a Good Manufacturing Practice environment.
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Pneumatic, and Electrical systems
- Excellent PC Skills – Excel, Word.
- Experience of adhering to Health & Safety procedures.
Desirable Criteria:
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of OEE and TPM manufacturing tools.
