The Domestic Abuse Partnership is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join the team. The aim of the DAP Team is to support victims of domestic abuse to enhance their safety and wellbeing by providing a co-ordinated and effective multi-agency response.
You will support the Practice Team Leader to ensure an effective high-quality advice and support service is provided to individuals experiencing domestic abuse. The successful applicant will also be responsible for managing the Domestic Abuse Practitioners and for their supervision and ongoing learning and development. You will also hold a defined case load and provide an effective support and advice service to victims / survivors referred to the service. You must have previous experience of managing, leading, supervising and developing staff. You must also have:
  • demonstrable knowledge of working directly with victims / survivors affected by domestic abuse or safeguarding adults or children
  • the ability to work with victims / survivors in a trauma informed client centred way
  • an awareness and understanding of the use / miss-use of the Duluth power and control methodologies, power differentials and inequalities between men and women and the effects that domestic abuse has on victims / survivors and their children
  • effective communication, organisational skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.
Having an informed understanding of safeguarding children and adults is essential. You will need to be qualified in a relevant area; i.e. NVQ level 4 or equivalent.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wishes to develop their knowledge and skills in this complex and often challenging area of work. We welcome applications from individuals who are committed, enthusiastic and willing to learn. Training and development is actively promoted and supported within the team.
