Introduction
Product Group is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the BBC’s portfolio of digital products.
Encompassing i Player, Sounds, Bitesize, and the BBC News and BBC Sport apps and website, our portfolio is diverse and contains some of the largest and highest-profile properties on the UK internet. We’re a huge streaming media destination, a news source trusted across the world, a provider of educational and entertaining content to children of all ages, and a sports results, analysis, and commentary service, and much more besides. It's an unparalleled portfolio of products, and our strength is our range and breadth. Working with the BBC’s content divisions, our focus now is on driving engagement across our portfolio so that the BBC online becomes a valued daily habit for all audiences just as television and radio have been over the last century.
Data is fundamental to our future: both in helping us prioritise and shape our work and in creating richer, more personalised experiences for our audiences. And our portfolio means that we’ve got one of the widest, most diverse, and most exciting datasets to work within the UK.
We are Product Data Domains
The Product Data Domains teams is a newly formed set of teams creating and maintaining trusted datasets and data products within Product Group. We have multiple teams within the function, responsible for expertise and knowledge of different sub-domains. We work in multi-skilled teams – from Product Data managers, analytics developers, data engineers and tracking implementation specialists. We work closely with our colleagues from across the organisation.
The Senior Data Visualisation Specialist is a new role that sits in the Product Data Domain teams. You will use the highly governed data sets produced by the Product Data Domains team to design, produce and maintain critical automated reporting and dashboards for use within the BBC’s digital estate. You will work alongside our Product Data Managers to gather requirements from a variety of stakeholders across all product teams and senior management, and translate them into easy-to-use, accessible, well-maintained, performant data visualisation suite which could include automated reporting.
You will also be working with our Data Governance colleagues to ensure that our dashboards conform to data quality and our dashboard kitemarking processes.
Finally, you will support other teams insider the wider Product Data function with data visualisation best practice. You will contribute to our communities of practice including Tableau, and be responsible for driving innovation within the data visualisation space.
