Are you a talented publications editor with great attention for detail who is looking for a new challenge? Do you enjoy a mix of collaborative and independent work? Our Medical Communications group is seeking a publications editor with scientific and/or medical communications editing experience to join our growing team—and you might be just the right person! You will join a group of expert medical editors, writers, graphic designers, and scientific communication strategists working together to deliver exceptional content to our clients. In this role, you will collaborate with research staff and other members of the Medical Communications team on a broad range of RTI‑HS deliverables, including manuscripts, presentation materials, literature review reports, economic modelling reports, slide sets, conference abstracts, dossiers, and protocols.
Responsibilities:
Will include but not be limited to:
- Editing RTI‑HS deliverables for grammar, spelling, style, and consistency, according to the appropriate style guide and company standards
- Formatting complex documents according to RTI‑HS or client-provided Word templates
- Setting or following publications style using company’s or client’s publication style, editorial policy, and publishing specification
- Ensuring that graphical representation of data is clearly expressed
- Reviewing large-scale organisation of documents and their overall flow
- Creating and combining Adobe PDF files
- Ensuring documents meet internal and client or journal specifications and adhere to a high-quality standard
- Establishing and managing complex schedules or closely following and engaging with existing production schedules
- Playing a key role in producing high-quality, impactful documents and contributing to the expanding field of medical communications as the team grows
- Collaborating with contributors, writers, clients, project managers, editors, and designers
Qualifications:
- University degree in Liberal Arts, English, Communications, or Journalism
- Minimum of 5 years of editing experience (medical, scientific, or medical communications editing experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of general grammar and punctuation rules
- Proficient in using style guides, particularly the AMA Manual of Style
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat
Experience editing large documents in Word (i.e.,
- 100 pages) preferred
- Experience with End Note reference management software preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors and team members
- Adept at supporting a diverse group of internal customers and adapting working style to suit various personalities and needs
- Strong communication skills, including providing diplomatic and constructive feedback to writers, both written and spoken
- Skilled at prioritising workload and making strategic decisions when faced with competing needs
- Willing to seek support from the team when necessary
