Packaging Retoucher

Primarily, the Packaging Retoucher position is to work as an integral member of the wider team to create gold standard, repro-ready artwork images, honouring design vision to achieve the best result in the final production.
Whilst accuracy and thoroughness are key components of the Retouchers role, it must be coupled with an inquisitive nature, a keenness to problem solve and an ability to react to time sensitive challenges with positivity and a can-do attitude.
Alongside the digital nature of the work, good verbal communication skills are a must to navigate projects.
An eye for all things creative and an excellent understanding of colour within production perimeters. A good Retoucher must be creative, and be confident to share opinions that deliver both technically and with aesthetic quality.
Responsibilities
  • Translate creative concepts into polished, print-ready artwork images for packaging, maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • A sound understanding of packaging artwork and print processes.
  • Approach workstreams with an inquisitive nature and a keenness to problem solve and react to time-sensitive challenges with positivity and a can-do attitude.
  • Show ambition to learn and explore innovative solutions, staying at the cutting edge of the packaging design world.
  • Good communication skills, keeping the CS & Creative teams updated.
  • Guide the CS team on retouching requirements, flagging constraints that may impact project delivery timelines.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and calming influence in the production team, with a professional and constructive manner.
Experience/Skills Necessary
  • A history of producing captivating print ready images as a Packaging Retoucher or in a similar role at a pack design / repro agency
  • Essential experience in FMCG packaging. Experience in large range adaptive rollouts projects would be advantageous.
  • Photoshop wizardry is a must. Fluency in illustrator and other Adobe Creative packages is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of packaging print processes and an understanding ability separations (DCS) and managing proofs.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative mindset, building strong relationships with project teams.
