In Summary...
The Marketing Assistant will be involved with the day to day buzz of working with our marketing team and in house creative team, from how to develop 360 marketing campaigns to launching products across all our communication channels. Reporting to the Campaigns & PR Manager you’ll help to plan and organise our upcoming marketing campaigns; learning how to work cross-channel with teams across our business, especially our social media, customer service and creative teams; all to help bring our marketing plans to life and build our customer community.
What does the role involve?... You’ll manage our website stories section. Working closely with our creative team, SEO manager and copywriter to plan, brief, format, upload and schedule our growing list of blog posts each week. You’ll work closely on all marketing campaigns. From learning how to build a comms and creative strategy; supporting with ideas at the start, to planning and organising research, timelines, logistics and admin and inputting briefs for different communication channels like social media, emails, customer service, PR and influencers, ready for launch. You’ll get to know our customers, through community management. Answering our customer emails. We’re super active on socials with comments, questions and queries coming in thick and fast, so you’ll spend one day each week replying to our audience in smol’s tone of voice, to help us engage with our community. You’ll feature on smol’s socials! This role will have a focus on supporting our on-camera work. Working closely with our social media team; you’ll deliver on trend content for upcoming campaigns and will need to be comfortable and confident talking to camera; whether it’s you filming at home; or with the team interviewing people out and about. Support the shaping and development of the campaign marketing calendar. Using market trends and insights, briefing and managing deliverables from teams across the business and helping to support the launch across all comms channels - such as a new product innovation, or a media campaign to highlight our partnership with The Hygiene Bank charity Pull together analysis reports. Staying in the loop on new learning opportunities for future campaigns, analysing consumer insights, brand performance and competitive landscape Champion smol’s tone of voice. Supporting the marketing team with brand presentations inline with brand guidelines and learn how to bring smol’s voice to life on different channels You will need/be... A creative mindset: You follow lots of brands and influencers doing exciting posts and creative projects that make you tick. You find inspiration from great social campaigns, adverts, collaborations, partnerships and product launches to share with the team. A team player: You’ll collaborate with people all across the business working to help deliver planned and reactive marketing campaigns, so you’ll need to be comfortable and confident talking to people and getting stuck in. A great communicator: Having effective verbal and written communication skills are really important in your role as you’ll be in charge of organising briefs and working to deadlines; which means managing other team’s timelines and deliverables.

This is a remote role working from home, so you’ll need to be great at managing your own time and communicating online. We work flexibly at smol, within core hours to catch up with your team through channels like Slack and Trello. We regularly meet up to co-work or for meeting days, usually in London, but the team is based all over the UK. You will be involved in a range of in-person marketing campaigns too, which may call for you to attend photoshoots, host street interviews in different cities and travel to support different activities we have going on across the UK, for example - meeting volunteers for our work with The Hygiene Bank charity. These can change throughout the year, so you will need to be reactive and confident to get involved with this change of scenery and meeting new people. This role will be Monday to Friday, however you will sometimes be required on evenings or weekends throughout the year to support ad hoc activity online or in person, reflected with time in lieu.
