Job Overview
The Lead Counsellor plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting clients through their personal development journeys. Our counselling service is for unpaid carers and people over 16 and their families who are living with long-term/terminal illness or bereavement. We are a member of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA). Our team has 4 fully trained and qualified members and we also have a trained mindfulness teacher. This position involves ensuring that all clients receive the highest standard of support. The Lead Counsellor will also be responsible for fostering an environment of collaboration and professional growth.
Duties
Manage and actively promote the service in Mid Argyll and Isles (MAKI) area of Argyll.
Recruit and support counsellors.
Supervise and mentor junior counsellors, offering leadership and direction to enhance their professional skills.
Manage administration of the service and make sure that all policies and procedures are up to date and meet COSCA regulations. C
Maintain accurate records of client progress and interventions, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders to facilitate understanding and engagement in the counselling process.
Stay updated on best practices in counselling and participate in ongoing professional development.
Work with Centre Manger in applying for funding to maintain the service.
Skills
Leadership abilities to inspire and guide a team of counsellors.
Proficient in IT systems relevant to client management and documentation.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
