Domestic Cleaner

Job Title: Cleaning Assistant (Part Time- 21-27 hours per week-: 9am-3pm)
Location: Glasgow, Mount Vernon
To provide high standards of cleanliness throughout the care home. To maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment for the residents to live in.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning the home to an acceptably high standard of cleanliness and comfort. Follow cleaning schedules.
  • To wash and distribute an adequate supply of laundered linen for the home.
  • To use appropriate methods and correct materials to clean all surfaces and soft furnishings according to the requirements of the cleaning schedule and Health and Safety regulations.
  • To follow Health and Safety procedures when dealing with the disposal of waste, and in cleaning and laundering throughout the home.
  • Attending staff meetings and training sessions when required.
  • Record any breakages or defects found in the Maintenance book.
  • Be prepared to deputise for other members of the Housekeeping staff when required to do so.
  • Be prepared to assist in the kitchen cleaning duties as required

  • Attend and participate in training sessions and staff and relatives meetings as and when required.
Be aware of and at all times comply with all the Care Home rules, policies and procedures; including the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, Care Standards Act and the relevant Regulations.

1. Good communication skills.
2. Good basic numeracy and English comprehension skills.
3. Reliable, punctual, with common sense and able to use initiative.
4. Ability to work methodically and accurately, well organised and able to be flexible and prioritise tasks.
5. A positive attitude to older people.
6. Willingness to work a range of shifts throughout the week and some weekends.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. To be fully conversant and act in compliance with the Home’s policies and procedures.
9. Excellent timekeeping and time management.
10. Ability to adapt to change and emergency situations.
7. Understanding of Health and Safety issues in the care home environment including COSHH.
8. Conversant with the risk assessment process.
9. The ability to form positive relationships with colleagues and residents.
10. Ability to work alone as well as part of a team to promote harmonious working relationships.
11. Respond to cultural and individual differences, especially the changing needs of people with dementia.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £11.44 per hour
Expected hours: 21 – 27 per week
