About UK Assessment & Qualifications: We are responsible for the delivery of nearly 4 million examination results per annum, including A-Level, GCSE, BTEC and T-levels for students in UK and International centres. Our in-house systems process every learner from registration to marking and certification, in a highly regulated business. We currently operate a hybrid estate of predominantly bespoke systems, with an ongoing strategic transformation program to migrate from on-prem to cloud based, cost effective, scalable, and resilient services. About The Role We are looking for a sharp-eyed and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Data Governance and Standards Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of business-critical data insight across a global FTSE 100 company, making an impact to millions of learners across the world. As we all know – the best visualisations are only of value if the underlying data can be trusted. We believe Governance is crucial and should be front and centre. The role will sit within a friendly, diverse and experienced Data Division, reporting to the Head of Data. We have a community feel with a large office presence, and work collaboratively as we navigate our multi-billion row datasets. The role will work closely with architectural and analytical leads across both the division and the wider business. Job Description: The role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and security of all data analytics across Pearson UK, including internal operational reporting, commercial insight and external data exchange, as well as contributing to data standards strategies. Key to achieving this will be overseeing the maintenance and development of our Data Lake – designed to be a single source of truth - and applying a strict data governance framework. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the maintenance, integrity, and accessibility of our Data Lake
\> Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures \> Develop and implement security framework for all users \> Implement processes to audit/monitor data quality and security \> Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations
Oversee the analytical usage of the Data Lake
\> Work with end-users to ensure data is being used appropriately \> Audit self-serve reports to ensure relevance and accuracy
Eulogise Data Governance across the business
\> Provide training and support to analysts and other stakeholders on data governance best practices \> Promote a culture of data literacy and responsible data usage across the organisation.
Advise on Data Standards within Pearson and across the wider education sector
