Bookkeeper

Firegroup is a well-established and rapidly growing company in Edinburgh. We have been in business for over twenty years.
We are Scotland's largest fireplace and stove showroom and operate over two showrooms in Edinburgh.
Can be part time or full time - depending on the candidate.
Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in various accounting software.

Duties
  • Maintain accurate financial records by recording day-to-day financial transactions and completing the posting process.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Utilise accounting software such as Quick Books [experience is a must] to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Quick Books
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
