Arts and Crafts Afterschool Club - Assistant Instructor
Makes and Bakes are looking for an assistant leader for our art based afterschool club. About the Club: The club runs each Thursday during the term until Christmas break. It will be based in BT4 Belfast and the club will be on from 3:00-4:00 PM The ideal candidate would be a friendly and reliable person who can assist the group leader in running our activities. They must be available for the entire term. (However, if you are enthusiastic about the role but there are one or two dates you are not available for please make us aware upon applying. We may still be able to accommodate this if we have advanced warning of any dates that we need cover. ) About us: We are passionate about creativity! Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to enjoy and benefit from incorporating creative activity in their life. As a company we organise and lead craft workshops for birthday parties, councils, charities and corporate events. Our team travels out to venues all over NI to run a variety of step-by-step workshop. We also run afterschool groups which are at regular set times. Key Responsibilities
Assist our group leader with our step-by-step workshops to a high standard of quality and in an engaging manner.
Keep the workspace tidy and clean.
Clean up after workshops and clean the workshop equipment.
Provide patient support to people who may have difficulty participating in the workshops such as those with special educational needs.
Represent the company in a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Maintain good communication with the team.
Our Ideal Candidate: We are interested in hearing from people who are enthusiastic about working in a creative environment. Candidates should enjoy working with children and have a friendly demeanour. Being able to work well in a team is important Candidates should be able to use their initiative to support other staff. Candidates should be punctual. We are looking for someone who will take the commitment to this role seriously: Reliability is of the utmost importance in this role. Backing out of work without proper notice means that we might have to cancel the session, disappointing the kids we work with. We ask our staff to ensure that, apart from in cases of illness or emergency, they are able to cover the work they have committed to. Please note: The successful candidate may be offered further optional opportunities in the future. All training will be provided. Already having an Access NI check is an advantage. This area is not in central Belfast. Please consider how you would travel to the location every week before applying. We do not recommend taking more than one bus to get to work as the shift is short. While we would like candidates to be able to demonstrate that they have an interest in working in a creative industry and/or with children, we are happy to consider those with voluntary experience. We don't expect every candidate to have paid experience in this field. It would be ideal if you are able to cover all the dates listed above. However, if you know there is a date you cannot do in advance but are passionate about the role, we would still be keen to hear from you. Please make us aware of the date you cannot cover when you apply. If we have advance warning we may be able to arrange cover. Salary Our Assistant Leader salary is £15 an hour.
