Purpose of the job:
Work Package Controller is in charge of Cost controlling and reports Work packages related cost. Provide clear and transparent data on cost to date and at completion and ensure the necessary conditions for achievement of the WP’s financial targets. Can supervise a team of cost controller/ analyst.
The Work Package Controller will diligently and professionally manage the financial accounts of the Project (on and/or off shore scope) in execution and until FAC or formalised handover and supporting the Project Manager (and other project functions) as the finance partner. The jobholder will also ensure effective reporting and controlling of the project under the own responsibility i.e. to ensure adequate controls and processes are in place to meet all of the Company’s requirements and that the accounting for the project is in accordance with the Company’s guidelines and instructions.
Keenly monitor and forecast cash flows arising from the project, setting control environment for the cash management in order to optimise cash flow.
Monthly Analysis of Actual Cost incurred and compare with the Forecast and analysing the Gaps.
Assist the Project Managers in forecasting the correct cost incurring and more importantly the timing of Cost incur.
- Co - ordination with Supply Chain department regularly to monitor the Cost progress.
Monitor the extra Cost of the project which are subject to claim and have regular meetings with the Claims Department to follow up.
Monitor & forecast revenue and gross margins arising from the project, setting control environment for the revenue and margin management.
Has the responsibility of controlling operations among which work packages and can be involved in non-industrial controlling related to site facilities and activities
Review and validate QCD performance vs commitment for WP to be delivered by PL and provide gap analysis (scope of change, performance variance, improper costing at tender stage…)
Contributes to the optimisation of financial performance of WP’s
Provides transparency of financial elements consolidated in WP vs WP completion forecasts, ensure industrial and manufacturing risks are properly assessed and mitigation plans in place
Follow financial results of action plans for costs reduction
Identify cost saving opportunities and prevent and alert of any deviance vs budget and forecasts
Reforecast cost to completion as appropriate and recon ciliate budget figures
Follow up and control costs to completion
Follow work in progress versus targets and Check costs against objectives
Validates data accuracy and cost valuations (hours, hourly rate, purchase costs, calculation, allocation of fixed or unabsorbed cost to projects
Propose actions to reduce costs
Review and validate at tender stage that costing, quality and delivery assumptions of WP’s are properly backed up and that commitment is obtained from the relevant operational managers.
2. Reporting and Coordination
Provides all WP financial reporting and benchmark by products family: average cost, productivity, ratio, delivery on time ratio, CONQ evolution
Interface with WP manager on cost evolution in coordination with cost managers and project controller and challenges
Works closely with Project controller, local accounting teams and central controlling teams.
Act as an interface with Operations especially WP manager and cost managers on follow up of cost evolution related to WP, cost reduction opportunities …
Alert of any cost drift and productivity deterioration
Validate contract database
3. Financial Administration
Ensure that WP approval process is strictly compliant with Transport and PL rules
Respect and apply Transport Tenders and projects processes and tools
4. Management
Provide management with reliable financial data in order to assist in the decision-making.
Ad-hoc reporting on project.
EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Proven academic background with a Degree qualified either in finance or business management with financial qualification or may have engineering degree (with financial training).
3 years of experience in long term contracting and accounting as Work Package Controller.
English

Well-developed communication skills and the ability to convince with presentations
Affinity to finance and numbers and good knowledge in MS Excel
Good analytical as well as problem-solving skills
