We are looking for a Research Scientist to conduct research in any areas associated with one of Idiap’s Research Programs. This position has a comparable level of responsibility of a Research Professor (USA) or an independent group leader (Europe). Ideal candidates will possess an academic profile commensurate with an EPFL Professeur/professeure Titulaire or Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche. While we envision this role to be full-time, we are open to exploring flexible working arrangements.
Duties include
Assume leadership in at least one research area and conduct original and exploratory research within Idiap's Research Programs.
Grow and lead a research team, promote cross-disciplinary collaboration, and secure funding through successful project proposals.
Lead externally funded research projects and supervise team members at various levels (research assistants, postdocs, research associates, and R&D developers).
Regularly publish high-quality research findings in peer-reviewed journals, share knowledge internally through seminars and courses, and contribute to the scientific community through tutorials, workshops, and conference presentations.
Identify opportunities for technology transfer and industrial collaborations.
Support the institute’s goal of translating research into business opportunities.
Initiate and participate in the development of demonstrators and prototypes.
Contribute to initiatives that support research and innovation at the institute.
Your Profile
Ph D degree in a relevant field.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent, innovative research with a significant impact on the field, as evidenced by a strong publication record and community recognition.
Proven track record of securing external research funding to support research.
Required language Fluency in English. French, German and Italian are pluses. About Idiap
