At Roche, our Enterprise Center of Excellence (e COE) is leading the way in breaking down silos, removing hierarchies, and working in new ways. We are looking for individuals who display the Finance Mindset & Behaviors, and will support a living organism that will leverage the business knowledge and financial expertise of the network to deliver exceptional results for Finance and Roche.

To further strengthen our network, we are looking for a team member to join the Pharma Partnering Finance Outcomes Based Community (OBC) in Basel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a finance business partner for R&D programs partnered with BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority)
  • Proactively engage / act as the financial liaison for internal and external stakeholders to guide decision-making:
    • Forge and sustain impactful relationships with business partners, finance teams across the enterprise and external alliance partners.
    • Assertively represent Roche's interests through diligence, financial analysis, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
    • Ensure, in partnership with Roche Partnering and Legal, that we properly develop, maintain and track our understanding of the key contractual terms of our alliance arrangements, thereby ensuring compliance and proper stewardship.

  • Oversee the financial management (forecasting, monthly closing, reporting, quarterly settlements and compliance) of Roche's royalty and profit-share collaborations as well as in-licensing and co-development relationships.

  • Support outlicensing projects, contract renegotations, divestments, impairment assessments as and where needed.
  • Lead audit interactions, upholding strong internal controls and coordinating audits with partners.
  • Lead process improvements, participate in e Co E wide projects and drive initiatives for continuous enhancement, for instance, through simplification and automation.
  • Contribute to other areas of expertise, helping to develop the e Co E community and amplifying its impact across Roche Finance.

Who you are
As a member of the e COE, you will bring a strong technical expertise together with the ability to work in a self-aligning team with minimal hierarchy. You will be a catalyst for the finance transformation and work effectively as an influencer, and leaning in as coach and catalyst to the Finance network as needed. You have a passion to pilot new approaches and constructively challenge the status quo. You can tolerate ambiguity. A Bachelor degree is required, and an MA/MBA is preferred.

In addition, you bring the following skills and competencies:
  • A university degree in Finance/Accounting with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; an MBA or professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated business acumen coupled with excellent collaboration and communication abilities to support a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Customer service-oriented with strong technical, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills, capable of building effective relationships with business partners.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling with the ability to quickly grasp and communicate complex issues.

Furthermore, you are resilient and capable of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines, exhibiting an entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity that motivates others. You have the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member, navigating complex organizational structures. You have demonstrated decision-making skills, even with incomplete information, and the capacity to engage in strategic discussions. You possess strong organizational skills, with the aptitude to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality standards.
