This position is located within the p RED Oncology organisation dedicated to the discovery and development of novel cancer therapeutics and will work closely with the Oncology Discovery and Translational Area (o DTA) and collaborate with partners, to maintain and ensure the p RED Oncology strategy is clear to internal stakeholders.
The Opportunity
As the Oncology Strategy Leader (OSL), you will be expected to overlay the strategic and portfolio perspective on top of the science and our scientific foundations, coordinate updates, drive alignment and enable proactive portfolio management and prioritisation. You will, in close partnership with the Senior OSL, ensure the Oncology Leadership Team (o LT), Discovery Leadership Team (DLT) and Early Development Oncology Leadership Team (EDO-LT) and key partners in p RED and the late-stage Oncology organisation have the necessary information and insights to proactively track, manage and prioritise the p RED Oncology Discovery and Clinical portfolios and put decision-making into context.

The Opportunity

Coordinate (across the organisation) and maintain oversight of the overarching o DTA strategy and departmental strategies, and manage periodic updates. Facilitate alignment within the DTA (Discovery and Clinical), p RED and late-stage, and ensure our strategic priorities are clear and opportunities and/or risks are highlighted, based on internal and external insights

Support the o LT, DLT and EDO-LT from a Discovery and Clinical portfolio management perspective by providing relevant information, KPIs and insights to enable tracking, monitoring, planning and regular review

Manage the Discovery and Clinical portfolio prioritisation process, organise periodic reviews of the Discovery guidebooks and aid prioritisation and decision-making. In addition, provide relevant content to support o LT/DLT/EDO-LT/DTA check-ins and reviews to assess strategic and portfolio progress

Represent the o DTA on ad-hoc strategic and RDE initiatives/workstreams, and bring ideas to into the o DTA that aim to improve effectiveness, efficiency and productivity

Liaise with the Strategy, Portfolio and Operations (SPO) group in p RED, the Disease Area Director (DAD) community in GPS, the Competitive Intelligence group in GPS and the Portfolio Strategy and Execution (PSE) function in PD to drive broader alignment, transfer learnings and build relationships
Who you are

Advanced science/life sciences degree and/or MBA/business qualification, with substantial relevant work experience

Understanding of Oncology and/or Consultancy-related experience is preferred, including the latest R&D industry trends

Aptitude for strategic thinking, an ability to “connect the dots” and be able to manage uncertainty, diverse opinions and ambiguity

Prior experience and involvement in strategic initiatives is preferred

Keen interest in building and demonstrating strong networking and collaboration skills, with excellent communication skills
