As a Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden, you bring product ideas to life through attention to all dimensions of the IKEA Democratic Design process, form, function, sustainability, low price, and quality. As a Product Design Developer, you will be part of engaging the full capabilities of the value chain (from supplier to consumer) to deliver democratic design products with a unique IKEA identity to create a better everyday life for many people. You will work together with a multifunctional team of experts in design, sourcing & supply, engineering, marketing & communication, and sales. As a Product Design Developer for Range Area Consumer Packaged Goods & Range Area Food Services, you are responsible for:
Steering the design development of better products and dishes delivering to all 5 dimensions of Democratic design being the specialist in form and function always starting with the price tag.
Lead the team to make decisions and move forward in the creative process together balancing all relevant input for optimal Democratic Design and to strengthen the IKEA identity.
The content of the product development project with both vision and action.
Securing IKEA's unique identity and Democratic Design in every product for all customer meeting points
Co-creating with development partners throughout the total value chain, from consumer to supplier.
Identifying and enabling stories of the product design development to be used in communication.
Contributing to creating a high-performing project team.
Contributing to creating the Range and Product & Portfolio plan you need to work closely with your team members and be capable of visualizing trends, insights, ideas and concepts in a simple, clear, and inspirational way to bring people on board in the product development process. You may also work in close collaboration with other project teams within the business area, as well as across other departments.
Qualifications To be successful; A Product Design Developer is someone who has a genuine interest in people, their life at home, and developing products and dishes; someone who can see things from a consumer’s perspective and conceptualize things that don’t exist. To be successful in the job as a Product Design Developer, we expect you to have a university degree in a design discipline or product development, or equivalent knowledge and several years of experience in working with product development. A Product Design Developer is innovative and curious. someone with the ability to work with conceptual ideas, who can turn these into actual solutions and own the content of the project from start to end. You have an eye for design and get motivated by finding new ways of working. You are energetic, motivated, and enjoy working closely with people, at a fast pace, and have great communication skills.
