About the role:
As the Biosecurity & Sustainability Compliance Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our region's biodiversity and ensuring sustainable practices are upheld. You will oversee biosecurity surveillance and monitoring activities, manage key projects, and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your leadership will drive educational initiatives to enhance community awareness about sustainable practices, aligning with our commitment to preserving local ecosystems and cultural heritage.
About you:

Consistenly demonstrates behaviours that reflect Council's values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage and Resilience with all stakeholders.
A degree in Biosecurity or other relevant qualification and/or experience in biosecurity, waste management or environmental health.
Knowledge of biosecurity, waste management, environmental health and community engagement.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of TSIRC computing systems (Tech One) an advantage.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on consultation, negotiation, and influencing outcomes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
A current (open and unrestricted) Queensland Driver's Licence.
Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting Torres Strait Islander people together with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.

Occasional travel throughout the Torres Strait Islands and Cairns may be a requirement of this position.
