A vacancy exists in the Utility and Environmental Unit in Pinetown (HVAC) for a Senior HVAC Commissioning Technician reporting to the Branch Manager & Deputy Branch Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Commissioning of large industrial HVAC Systems
Experience in Air balancing and air quality management.
Cold and hot commissioning of new installations.
Good Understanding of instrumentation and controls
Familiar with large project quality management systems (QCP’s and ITP’s)
Need to have work experience on industrial sites (Power generation ESKOM, Petro Chem, Smelters
Pharmaceuticals, refineries etc)
Understand the working principles and operation of central plant air-conditioning systems with
multiple zones.
Understand the working principals and operation of chilled water systems.
Understand electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and P & I Diagrams.
Ability to fault find HVAC mechanical and electrical breakdowns and trace the root causes.
Is expected to travel for short periods of time to commission and service nationwide HVAC plants
and installations.
The ability to persevere and put in extra hours if and when necessary.
Inspection of electrical and hand tools
Working at elevated positions.
Following safe hot work practices (cutting, grinding, drilling, tacking, jacking)
Determine correct PPE to be worn for a specific job.
Able to complete job risk assessment.
Good housekeeping practices
Minimum Requirements:
Matric
N3 with the subjects Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Trade Theory
Red Seal Trade tested artisan
Minimum 5-10 years field experience in Industrial Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration
Previous experience in Commissioning and Servicing chilled water HVAC Plant installations in the Industrial Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical Sectors.
