Job Overview

Senior Artisan / Fitter required for a job vacancy in Montagu.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Artisan / Fitter to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, assembling, and maintaining machinery to ensure smooth and reliable operations.
You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues, perform regular maintenance, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and assemble machines and mechanical components as per requirements.
• Inspect machinery, such as extruders and transmissions, running diagnostic tests to identify issues.
• Conduct timely repairs with a focus on reliability and safety.
• Perform routine maintenance, apply lubricants, and clean machinery components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve reported mechanical problems promptly.
• Adhere to safety regulations, SOPs, and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety inspections.
• Execute planned maintenance and report component failures.
• Maintain a list of critical spares and manage timely reordering.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Mechanical Artisan (Trade Test Certificate).
• Experience in the FMCG sector, with knowledge of manufacturing processes and production machinery.
• Familiarity with PLC Systems and preventative maintenance systems.
• Knowledge of the OSH Act and relevant safety regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot effectively.
• Experience with Form Fill and Seal packing machines and snack food extrusion processes is advantageous.
