Role Purpose/Business Unit:
To assist the Executive Head of Risk and Compliance with the implementation enhancing and maintaining the regulatory controls within the financial services division as it specifically relates to insurance, payments, lending and investment products and services. To ensure that there is proper oversight and management of outsourced partnerships.
Your responsibilities will include:
Regulatory and Commercial support
Interfacing with, monitoring and advising on pending, anticipated and new legislation and bills that impact on the business.
Preparing business impact assessments and training to the relevant business teams to ensure readiness to comply with new laws.
Ensuring compliance with current regulatory environment, internal policies and relevant contractual agreements in accordance with an internal compliance plan.
Sourcing and providing reference materials and doing relevant legal research and providing legal opinions and advice regarding interpretation of laws vis-a-vis the company’s operations, from time to time.
Develop appropriate Terms and Conditions and Contract for New Products as may be launched from time to time.
Preparation/vetting and execution of legal documents [customer and supplier contracts and other types of commercial agreements] in conjunction with the Vodacom Group Legal division.
Ensure timely renegotiation and renewal of customer contracts prior to expiry as well as engaging with the outsourced service providers to provide oversight and assess levels of risk and compliance. Recommend areas of improvement and identify action items to be put in place to rectify areas of non-compliance.
Coordinate engagement and Interface with industry regulators to ensure that the Company’s licenses and other statutory obligations are up to date, following up and ensuring that any requests or pending applications of the Company receive attention to conclusion.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the EHo D: Regulatory, Risk and Compliance from time to time.
Stakeholder management
.
Analyse complaints (internal and external) for trends and report’s findings to relevant stakeholders
Liaise with External Regulatory Stakeholders ie. Various Ombuds, NCR etc.
Engage with Internal (Project Support) and business stakeholders.
Assist in the implementation of the compliance training and awareness program
Assist management to create a compliance culture and with embedding compliance principles, values and sound business practice into existing training mediums
Assist management to create new mediums of communication to enhance compliance awareness and knowledge within the company
Financial Services Lending regulation analysis and documentation
Assists with the analysis and documentation of regulatory compliance requirements especially as it relates to credit lending opportunities.
Develop risk management plans for relevant legislation and maintain a regulatory universe for lending.
Assessing the risk of changes to Regulatory Environment
Identify and track changes to existing and new laws
Impact analysis across business processes and systems
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree is desirable and a Master’s degree will be an added advantage
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a legal and/or regulatory role prefereably in a financial services company or a fintech.
Specific experience in dealing with Insurance Regulators, Lending and Payments Association of South Africa (PASA).

Good understanding of both Corporate and Commercial Law environment coupled with good grasp of the financial services industry
