Role
This position plays a crucial role in maintaining comprehensive legal and cargo claims support. This position is ideal for candidates who are willing to expand their careers within the Maritime Sector .
Responsibilities:
Ensuring full cargo claims handling support for the Southern Africa Cluster
Ensuring effective communication on claims matters to our global claims team on pre-claim and quantified cargo claim activities within stipulated turn-around times
Lodging and facilitating Transnet Recoveries (Port and Rail)
Lodging and handling third party claims (including raising of invoices)
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to legal matters and general claims matters
Reviewing claims / legal submissions for discussion with Managing Counsel
Liaising with External Service Providers (including attorneys) on matter progression and fees
Provide weekly updates and reports to Managing Counsel
Assisting Managing Counsel with daily tasks
Maintaining Claims, Legal and Insurance Schedules
General Legal Admin Support to the Managing Counsel
Facilitating communication with Insurance Brokers on renewals and claims
Assisting and attending to Compliance (POPI and other) RFIs and liaising with the various head office legal counterparts.
Skills and Qualifications
LLB Degree/Paralegal Qualification would be an added advantage
Experience in maritime industry would be an added advantage
+2 years' experience as a Paralegal / Legal Assistant / Claims Assistant
Proficient on Microsoft Office
