Highway Bridge Carpenters build and construct bridge columns, decks, and caps by constructing forms for concrete. They are expected to assist in the general operation of each job site. In addition to general carpentry skills a carpenters job consists of, but is not limited to, the following duties:

- Driving Pile
- Building wood and metal forms
- Erection and wrecking of all forms
- Setting and tying steel
- Pouring and finishing concrete
- Loading and unloading of materials
- Checking and maintaining grade stakes
- Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids

The above-listed duties require periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping and bending. As well as periodic lifting of 10 to 50 pounds. Weekend and night may be required from time to time. Duties may require working from heights such as bridge beams or bridge caps. Due to safety regulations applicants must be able to effectively communicate in English.
