Job Title: Field Technician Reports to: Technical Manager Department: Technical Job functions –Primary Responsibilities (May include but not limited to the below) Position Overview: A Printer and Copier Technician, also known as a Service Technician or Field Technician, is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing printers, copiers, and related office equipment. To maintain and ensure that the devices are functioning properly, provide technical support to customers end-users, and ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction. Job industry experience required: The candidate will require the following technical experience in the industry: - Will require 3-5 years plus hardware office automation repair and service experience. - Will require medium level computer literacy. - Will require basic software experience in device installations, printer driver installation and scanning setup. Key Responsibilities: Installation and Setup:
Install and configure printers, copiers, and other office equipment on customer networks. and sites.
Configure device rules, functionality and features according to customers requirements.
Set up device network connectivity, drivers, and software to enable optimal device functionality.
Conduct device testing to fault find and ensure devices are functioning optimally and correctly.
Maintenance and Repair:
Perform routine maintenance tasks on printers and copiers, such as servicing, cleaning, maintaining and replacing spare components on devices.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repairing hardware and software issues to identify the root cause of problems.
Repair or replace faulty components, such as drums, fuser units or components, developer units , feed rollers, circuit boards and sensors.
Diagnose and replace device electrical components such as circuit boards and sensors on device failure.
Maintain and update device firmware and software to enhance device performance and security.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Customer Support:
Respond to service calls and provide technical support to customers in person or via phone, email, or remote assistance tools.
Analyze and resolve customer-reported issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to their operations.
Educate customers on device operation, maintenance best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Quality Assurance:
Test repaired or serviced devices to verify proper functionality before returning them to customers.
Perform quality checks to ensure print and copy output meets established standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in printer and copier systems.
Inventory and Documentation:
Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
Order replacement parts and supplies as necessary, ensuring timely availability.
Keep detailed records of service requests, repairs performed, and customer interactions.
