Job Description: Civil and Structural Draughts person Position Overview: The Civil and Structural Draughtsperson will be responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, layouts, and plans for a range of civil and structural engineering projects. This role involves working closely with engineers and project managers to create precise drawings using industry-standard design software. You will ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards and regulations while supporting project documentation. Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities
Drafting: Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings, including layouts, plans, sections, and elevations, using advanced industry software.
Software Proficiency: Utilize a range of design tools such as:
Auto CAD: 2D and 3D drafting for civil and structural designs.
Civil 3D: Specialized civil engineering design and documentation.
Prota Structures: Structural analysis and design software for concrete, steel, and composite structures.
Revit MEP: Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design for building systems.
Advanced Steel: 3D modeling software for steel detailing and fabrication.
IDAS (Infrastructure Design and Analysis Software): Design and analysis of infrastructure networks.
Prokon: Structural analysis and design software for civil engineers.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and develop precise technical drawings.
Revisions: Modify and update drawings based on client feedback, ensuring all changes are accurately reflected in the design.
Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable codes and standards, such as SANS, NHBRC, and other local or international guidelines.
Site Visits: Conduct site visits when necessary to gather data, take measurements, and verify existing conditions for accurate drafting.
Project Documentation: Maintain organized project documentation, ensuring that all versions of drawings and related data are stored and accessible for future reference.
Coordination: Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment of designs with construction execution.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Btech ( Preferably) Civil/Structural Drafting or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in civil and structural drafting.
Software Skills: Proficient in industry-standard softwares as listed
Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of local building and design codes (e.g., SANS, NHBRC, and others).
Attention to Detail: Ability to create highly detailed and precise technical drawings.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Advanced Software Skills: Experience with specialized design and analysis tools such as IDAS or other infrastructure-specific software.
Construction Knowledge: Understanding of construction processes and how technical drawings translate into real-world structures.
Project Documentation: Strong organizational skills in maintaining project documentation, version control, and proper archiving.
