A 4* hotel in Cape Town is seeking a Bookkeeper who's a detail-oriented and organised individual with a passion for numbers and hospitality. The ideal candidate will have experience in bookkeeping within a hospitality setting and a strong understanding of financial processes. Key Responsibilities:
Manage the hotel’s day-to-day financial transactions, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.
Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
Prepare monthly management reports and financial statements for review.
Oversee bank reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
Monitor cash flow, ensuring the hotel operates within budget parameters.
Assist with budget preparation and tracking of expenses.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely submission of VAT returns.
Liaise with auditors and external stakeholders as needed.
Manage the payroll process and ensure timely salary payments.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Requirements:
Recent experience as a Bookkeeper in a hospitality environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Xero, or similar).
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with VAT and tax regulations.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
