Assistant Manager to Manager, Hospitality Industry Development
[What the role is]
As the sector champion for the hotel industry, you will work closely with government agencies, industry associations, hotel owners and operators to drive the development of a resilient, competitive, innovative and sustainable hotel industry underpinned by a strong Singapore core.
You will be part of a team to build a vibrant industry which attracts innovative hotel concepts/experiences; provides high-value offerings to visitors; is growth-oriented and manpower-lean; demonstrates strong business performance in occupancy, revenue and yield; and supports good jobs and wages for Singaporeans.
[What you will be working on]
1. You will be involved in developing strategies and implement initiatives to drive innovation and scale tech capabilities and adoption that enhance productivity, sustainability and guest experiences at the industry and enterprise level in partnership with the Singapore Hotel Association.
One project that you will be working on would be the self check-in/check-out solutions, which is a key priority of STB. You will work closely with Hotel stakeholders to understand the challenges for implementation and develop ways to improve the utilisation rate of the solutions. In addition, you will also review the business model of the system and to strategise the future plans of the solution, while working with border controls to explore possible integration.
2. As the industry champion, you will be part of the team that will push for holistic transformation of the hotel industry. You will work with key accounts that are committed to business and workforce transformation, and profile them as pathfinders and case studies for the rest of the industry to follow.
As STB moves towards Tourism 2040, you will be involved in identifying and strategising the gaps and opportunities in terms of experiences that hotels today provide. Using available grants, you will work closely with selected hotels to testbed ideas and develop proof of concepts to plug the gaps.
3. As the data lead for the division, you will collect, analyse and oversee the reporting of hotel data performance to management and industry.
4. You will also be servicing and managing key hotel accounts and administer manpower, grant and regulatory assistance to them to drive their longer-term business transformation in line with the Hotel Industry Transformation Map 2025 and Tourism 2040.
[What we are looking for]
At least 2 years of relevant experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good stakeholder management and project management skills
Great interpersonal skills
Good to have hospitality background and/or an understanding of the technology landscape and trends
Showing good business acumen, analytical thinking and judgement
Working effectively within STB & stakeholders outside STB to achieve results
