Job Description: Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Network Specialist to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network infrastructure to support the Royal Commission’s expanding facilities and operational requirements in JCPDI. This role involves ensuring network stability, performance, and security while collaborating with various departments to align network solutions with ongoing and future projects.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software. Perform regular updates and patches to ensure network stability and security.
Monitor network performance using specialized tools, identify and resolve issues, and optimize network configurations to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Implement and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies. Respond to and mitigate security threats and breaches.
Work closely with project teams to provide network solutions that support the Commission’s projects. Participate in planning and execution phases to align network infrastructure with project needs.
Provide expert-level support for complex network issues. Diagnose and resolve network-related problems promptly to minimize downtime and operational impact.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, procedures, and incidents. Prepare detailed reports on network performance, security, and project status for management review.
Guide and mentor junior network staff, offering support and training to enhance their technical skills and knowledge. Foster a collaborative environment within the IT team.
Manage relationships with network hardware and software vendors. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and products to improve network capabilities and performance.
Ensure that network operations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in network management.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and requested.
Provides research and recommendations for improvements of existing systems.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field is required. Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or Comp TIA Network+ are highly desirable.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in network administration or engineering, including substantial experience in network design and implementation, network performance and security, project management, and vendor management.
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities and experience with network performance optimization are important.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for effective collaboration and reporting.
