Job Objective
The Packaging Lines Operator is responsible for monitoring the operation of various packaging lines to ensure continuous and efficient product packaging occurs.
Operational Role:
Takes full responsibility of the lines in his area in terms of production and quality targets
Operates All Packaging Equipment: Be able to start-up all elements of the line from the bagger to the palletizer including printers, checkweighers and metal detectors
Keeps lines running with minimal generated wastes (sugar and consumables).
Brushes, scrapes sugar deposits and wastes; removes and cleans
Be Able to carry out a format changeover.
Operates sewing machines and accessory equipment
Checks quality of production including coding
Fills sewing units with sewing thread
Performs scheduled inspections of equipment and housekeeping as specified by check list.
Cleans machine and oils, moving parts as needed
Adjusts scales to obtain proper weight of sugar
Observes for and removes improperly fed or non-desirable packages from line and discards into appropriate container
Inspects for defective sewing and remove rejects from line
Responsible for Supplying empty Material packagings as directed
To use Problem solving skills to identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand
To ensure production handovers with other Packaging Operators with effective communications tools
Performs all jobs in accordance with all relevant safety protocols and legal codes to ensure proper operation of equipment and minimize risk of damage to property and personnel
Performs routine facility maintenance as assigned.
Performs PM tasks as assigned
Observes and troubleshoots equipment in operation by adjusting functional parts of devices, as well as repairing/replacing defective parts.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Equipment inspection: Performs 1st level inspection on equipment
Requirements:
Diploma or equivalent ideally in Electro-Mechanical or Instrument
Minimum 2 years experience working on high-speed industrial packaging equipment or related manufacturing/industrial experience
Ability to detect faulty production, automation and mechanical irregularities
Good hand-finger dexterity
Self-starter and a team player; work effectively with others.
Able to carry out the first level maintenance (cleaning and oiling as needed)
Familiar with OSHA, HACCP and other Food Safety requirements is desired.
Walks for extended periods of time, Stands 50% of the time.
Knowledge of plant (belts, gearboxes, cylinders) Maintenance Job’s.
Good in Tools handling.
