Job vacancy description
KAUST is seeking candidates for a faculty position within the Physical Science and Engineering Division (PSE) aimed at establishing a world-class research program that bridges traditional disciplinary boundaries to tackle air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, and their climate change and health impacts. Given the unique environmental challenges of the Arabian Peninsula, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to both regional and global air quality and climate solutions.
Individuals with expertise in one or more of the following research domains are particularly encouraged to apply:
- Investigating the role of atmospheric aerosols and emissions on climate change and public health, including their sources, chemical interactions, and impacts on regional and global climate systems.
- Modeling the atmospheric processes that drive aerosol and pollution dynamics, and their interactions with climate systems.
- Developing innovative sensing, monitoring, and mitigation technologies to address air quality and environmental challenges.
- Evaluating the socio-environmental impacts of air pollution and designing evidence-based strategies for climate adaptation, policy development and mitigation efforts.
Successful applicants should be prepared to address these key challenges with a multi-disciplinary approach and to engage with different programs and research initiatives across the university’s divisions.
The research topics and outcomes should be in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 by focusing on one or more of KAUST’s strategic pillars:
1) Health & Wellness
2) Sustainable Environment & Essential Needs
3) Energy & Industrial Leadership
4) Economies of the Future
