Requirements and skills
- Completed education in the IT field (e.g. IT system administrator) or
comparable studies in the field of computer science
- Several years of experience in the field of server administration
- Extensive technical knowledge in the areas of: server hardware,
server virtualization with VMware (v Center, v Sphere), backup
(Veeam), Windows and Linux OS, especially Windows servers,
monitoring (PRTG) and patch management.
- Autonomous, goal-oriented way of working and high IT affinity
- Enthusiasm, commitment, and very good communication skills
- Intercultural competence and experience abroad
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Very good written and spoken skills in English (C1 level)
- Personal commitment to continuous training in relevant data center
technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, maintenance and operation of the global server
infrastructure (hardware, hypervisor, backup systems, tape
libraries).
- Standardization and harmonization of the global server
landscape.
- Implementation of server management concepts to increase
the level of automation of Bilstein data centers.
- Implementation and further development of backup and
recovery concepts.
- Support for the new installation of data center components
(e.g., for plant expansions).
- Securing servers in cooperation with IT Security colleagues.
- Processing of 3rd level tickets in the Data Center expert field.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting of the global Data Center
environment.
- Cross-functional cooperation with other IT teams,
departments and plants.
- Development of Data Center know-how and documentation of
the existing environment.
- Full integration in the international team being responsible
for the global IT infrastructure
