Senior Air Navigation Charges Officer (Qatari Nationals)
About the role:
Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Flight Operations team as a Senior Air Navigation Charges Officer to be based in Doha, Qatar.
As a Senior Air Navigation Charges Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding Qatar Airways from financial losses by effectively managing its Air Navigation Charges (ANC) liabilities proactively, contributing to cost reduction and enhanced competitiveness. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and retention of records of all aspects of the ANC invoice process including liaising with air navigation service providers (ANSPs) to resolve discrepancies identified during invoice verification to prevent overcharges, undercharges, or duplicated charging.
Specific responsibilities for the role include:
- Review Air Navigation Charges (ANC) regulations and policies issued by civil aviation organizations, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), governments, and international organizations such as ICAO, EUROCONTROL, etc. to identify and understand the key provisions.
- Collect and maintain data related to the airline's flight operations (i.e., aircraft type, weight, etc.), as necessary, for the verification of ANC invoices.
- Verify the accuracy of ANC invoices against flight operations’ data using available tools and best practices to identify any errors or discrepancies.
- Liaise with appropriate external stakeholders to clarify, dispute, and claim any incorrect charges.
- Maintain record of invoices verified, credit notes received, or savings achieved to report to any management’s inquiries.
- Report to relevant stakeholders any ANC rate discrepancies present in Qatar Airways systems or other flight planning statistical data issues, that were discovered while verifying the ANC invoices.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable and Supplier Relations to update the Bank Details of any air navigation service providers, as necessary.
- Escalate promptly to ANC Manager, if required, identified deviations from the documented processes / procedures, agreed, or defined timelines, work flows, etc. for further scrutiny and potential actions.

Qualifications
About you
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Basic Understanding of Aviation: A general knowledge of the aviation industry from experience or education is essential.
- Preferred Knowledge of International Aviation Organizations: Familiarity with key aviation bodies and regulations such as ICAO, IATA, and Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) is an advantage.
- Preferred Expertise in Managerial Accounting: A background in managerial accounting and data analysis will be highly regarded.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Analytical tools: Good skills in Excel, including data manipulation and analysis, are preferred.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of both spoken and written English is mandatory.
