Job Description Position Title : Barista Division & Dept : Food and Beverage Reports to : Head Barista - Assistant Manager – Restaurant Manager About the Role A barista promotes coffee consumption by educating customers by selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; in addition to preparing and serving a variety of exclusive beverages with the possibility of some pastries and cookies. A barista welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs & makes sure all beverage recipes are produced as per agreed standard to ensure consistency & cost control. Services offered by a barista enrich the entire culinary experience and add profitably to a restaurants business module. Main Responsibilities
Punctual
Look professional & abide by H&J grooming standards
Maintain complete knowledge of:
a. Menu items and brands
b. Maintain knowledge of the characteristics & description of fresh juices, fruit cocktails, shakes, smoothies, mocktails, milkshakes, coffee etc.
c. Designated glassware, ingredients, preparation methods and garnishes for each drink
d. Table/seat/station numbers, seating capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
e. Correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended
Attend to opening duties according to opening checklist
Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar, guest and service areas; rectify any deficiencies
If necessary, greet guests and take their orders, utilizing suggestive/up selling techniques
Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately punched into the POS system before serving drinks
Prepare all drink orders for guests according to outlet recipes
Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests even when busy
Maintain positive guest relations
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of bar and bar top
Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables to dishwashing area
Direct and assist other team members in their job functions to ensure smooth and efficient service to guests
Legibly document designated items on the wastage sheet
Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste
Work on closing tasks assigned by the Head Barista
Attend briefings & general meetings with full attention & consider comments for better future performance
Ask Head Barista for permission to leave

Essential Skills & Experience
Knows how to speak, read & write English
Speak Arabic is a plus
Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospitality / food and beverage industry
Worked behind the bar in an international, healthy, Italian, French or casual diner concept or café
POS experience (Micros, RM, Odoo…)
Has Microsoft office experience (Word, excel, outlook)
Basic coffee knowledge is a must
Latte art is a must
Knowledge of health and safety standards
Knowledge of hospitality functions
Experience in following instructions
Team player
Good communication skills
Trustworthy
