1. We seek broadly-trained marine scientist-educators who have degrees in marine sciences and are strongly committed to teaching and student/faculty research at the undergraduate/ graduate levels. Teaching responsibilities will include regular introductory-level courses such as Introduction to Marine Sciences and Marine Biology, upper-level courses in Marine Fisheries and aquaculture, marine productivity, and a course in the applicant's area of expertise.
2. Supervise graduate thesis research (M.Sc. and Ph D) in the area of expertise.
3. Write research proposals that are accessible to both undergraduate and graduate students and are able to establish an active research program that complements existing departmental strengths in the area of expertise.
4. Contribute to various committees at the Program, College, and University levels.
5. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications
1. Applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree in marine sciences from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates who have their B.Sc in marine sciences or related programs.
2. A record of distinguished scholarship (peer-reviewed publication record), grant-funded research, and graduate student mentorship in the last 5 years.
3. A good track record of well-developed research experience in the area of fisheries oceanography and aquaculture. Preference will be given to applicants with research applying molecular methods in determining effects of stressors such as climate changes and, screening and optimization of Indigenous species.
4. A minimum teaching experience of 3 years at the university level, graduate teaching is preferred.
5. Familiar with Educational technologies used in the higher education sector.
6. Willingness to work with teams.
7. Awareness of working with people from diverse backgrounds.
8. Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
