Management of mining waste (tailings and debris) generated in Neves Corvo, stability of the storage structures of these wastes and water, water balance and hydrogeology, supervising the teams of senior technicians assigned to these areas. Performance of the role of Deputy RTFE (Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer)/RTER (Responsible Technical Tailings Structures Engineer) within the scope of the GISTM (Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management) / PGIGR (Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management). Participation in all engineering projects, mine life plans, closure plans, and strategic plans related to dams, tailings, debris, and groundwater. Participation in the review of projects and reports from consultants as well as support in the preparation and control of budgets. Replacement of the Department Head whenever necessary. Main Responsabilities
Supervise the monitoring of the structural, hydraulic, geochemical, and hydrogeochemical stability of the Cerro do Lobo Waste Facility (landfill), the Cerro da Mina Reservoir, the Horta da Reveza Dam (emergency dam), and the tailings deposit in strict compliance with National and EU Legislation on mining industry waste landfills and dam safety, as well as Lundin Mining Corporation’s procedures and standards.
Serve as Deputy RTFE/RTER. Provide technical and project management support to the RTFE within the scope established in the GISTM/PGIGR, substituting whenever the RTFE is absent.
Ensure compliance with requirements 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 7.2, 7.3, and 8.5 of the GISTM/PGIGR. Coordinate the activities of the Engineer of Record (Eo R), the designer responsible for the stability of the various dams and structures of the Mining Complex and tailings deposition.
Prepare technical information and accompany inspections for annual audits to ensure compliance with Lundin Mining Corporation’s procedures.
Ensure the correct analysis and validation of geochemical monitoring results and the physical properties of the tailings.
Ensure the correct analysis and validation of qualitative and quantitative data from the Neves Corvo hydrogeological program.
Manage the company's water balance based on Gold Sim modeling and propose short, medium, and long-term actions.
Compile monthly area costs to support the Financial Department. Support the preparation of OPEX, CAPEX, and Closure budgets.
Participate in all specific area projects, including engineering projects, expansion, mine life plans, closure plans, strategic plans, and EIAs, within the scope of the role.
Prepare specific area reports for submission to national authorities and Lundin Mining.
Ensure compliance with the company's safety and environmental standards to prevent accidents and incidents.
Work closely with the Senior Water Management and Quality Technician and the Senior Operational Responsibility Technician to ensure alignment between Technical Support and Operations.
Replace the Department Head whenever necessary. Role Requisitions
Training in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological and Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering - Geotechnical branch, or Geology with a master's degree in geotechnics or experience in Engineering Geology.
Minimum of 8 years of previous experience in an industrial mining environment, preferably related to Mining Waste.
Knowledge of Office software, with an advanced level of Excel.
Knowledge of Auto CAD, 3D Tailings Modeling Software, Gold Sim, SAP.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Advanced level of English.
Enjoys teamwork and has good interpersonal relationships.
Problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan, organize, take initiative, perform critical analysis, work autonomously, and adapt.
Professional diligence.
