Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Research Technician (Bolsa de Investigação) for a Master to join our team at the Champalimaud Research Program, in the context of the project entitled “ENHANCING NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE RESEARCH EXCELLENCE THROUGH ZEBRAFISH CAPACITY BUILDING (ZENCURE)”, project number 101160259, funded by the European Research Executive Agency.
The selected candidate will be involved the following activities
  • Cell culture maintenance;
  • Reception of cancer samples;
  • Zebrafish line maintenance;
  • Generation of zebrafish xenografts;
  • Immunofluorescence and image analysis;
  • Tutoring students, science communication.

Skills/Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
  • The candidate should have a background in Biology and a Master degree in Science.
Specific Requirements
  • The candidate should be expert in in cell culture, confocal microscopy and molecular biology;
  • Preferentially, the candidature should have previous experience in zebrafish handling;
  • Excellent level of English.

  • Remuneration: 1 260 Euros;
  • The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer. The fellowship holder will have personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme, can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme.

12 months with possibility of renewal.
Eligibility criteria
National, Foreign or Stateless candidate(s) who hold a master degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Health-related areas or other related scientific areas, and a scientific and professional curriculum that reveals a profile appropriate to the activity to be developed.
Selection process
Candidates will be screened to determine eligibility based on minimum qualifications listed in call. Candidates meeting minimum requirements will be scored according to the required application materials: CV 70% weighting, motivation letter 20%, interview 10% (in case of a tie).
If provided, and if shortlisted, candidates’ referees may be contacted and may count towards evaluation.

  • Proof of qualifications (certificates) may be required at a later date for the formalisation of the contract agreement. Degrees obtained abroad may need to be formally recognised in Portugal.

Notification of results
All candidates will receive a receipt of acknowledgment within 7-10 business days. The highest scoring candidate will be notified by email or telephone. All other candidates will be notified solely by email of the final outcome of the recruitment process.
After being notified, candidates will have 10 working days to present a claim for redress by email (careers@research.fchampalimaud.org). If no claim is received by the Champalimaud Foundation, the Evaluation Committee's decision will become definitive.
