Job Title: Software Tester - Manual and Automation Testing
Location: ON SITE IN ABUJA ONLY - not negotiable
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Tester to join our dynamic team. As a Software Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications through manual and automation testing using Cypress. The ideal candidate will have experience in both front end and back end testing and possess the ability to create comprehensive test plans and test strategies. In addition to testing responsibilities, the Tester will also be involved in business analysis by writing up stories on JIRA.
Responsibilities:
1. Manual and Automation Testing:
- Conduct manual testing of software applications to identify defects and verify functionality.
- Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using Cypress to enhance testing efficiency.
- Perform regression testing to ensure the stability of existing features with each software update.
- Analyze test results and collaborate with developers to resolve issues and improve software quality.
2. Test Planning and Strategy:
- Create detailed test plans and test cases based on project requirements and user stories.
- Develop test strategies that encompass both manual and automated testing approaches.
- Identify test data requirements and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure data availability for testing purposes.
3. Front-end and Back-end Testing:
- Perform front-end testing to validate the user interface, user experience, and usability of applications.
- Conduct back-end testing to verify data integrity, data manipulation, and API functionalities.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure the seamless integration of front-end and back-end components.
4. Defect Tracking and Reporting:
- Document and track defects, anomalies, and issues identified during testing on JIRA.
- Report test progress, test results, and test coverage to project stakeholders.
- Assist in prioritizing and triaging defects based on their severity and impact on software functionality.
5. Business Analysis:
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
- Write up user stories and detailed acceptance criteria in JIRA for effective project planning and execution.
- Participate in backlog grooming and sprint planning meetings to prioritize development tasks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in manual and automation testing, particularly using Cypress for automation testing.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- Proficiency in creating and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Familiarity with front-end testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Jest, or similar.
- Experience in testing both front-end (web and mobile) and back-end applications.
- Knowledge of API testing and familiarity with tools like Postman or Insomnia.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience in working within Agile development teams is a plus.
- Previous experience in business analysis, writing user stories, and using JIRA for project management is an advantage.
