Project Manager: IT
We are a Supply Chain Management business, which has pivoted and now also leverages off our Group of Data & Technology companies in building custom systems for our clients in the FMCG industry.
Our solutions range from cloud-based solutions that are AI-powered, machine learning predictive tech that keeps our clients ahead of customer behaviour, to centralized, data-visualized, single dashboards, that are custom-built solutions automating and centralizing all elements of the management process. We also predict what our customers need, what they buy, and how much of it they buy. Our solutions have revolutionized all forecasting abilities from pricing, inventory, customer behavior, and sales analytics.

Our vision for our Project Manager is to represent the Smollan IT business unit within the cluster, working across regions, teams, and solutions. They would ultimately work on one of our core system projects, along with other ERP solutions, people systems, and internal client projects. They would ideally have experience taking an unstructured environment, where they implemented PM processes and procedures, formalizing a new way of working. This person would be working across the different technical teams and therefore should have experience leading projects that developed complex technical solutions.

To define project objectives and plan, execute and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and within budgets. This includes acquiring resources and co-ordinating the efforts of team members and external vendors in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Responsibilities:
Client Management
- Manage client interactions and expectations
- Develop client relationships
- Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
- Build knowledge of client business and organisational objectives
- Explain proposed solutions and make presentations as required
- Facilitate team and client meetings
- Hold regular status meetings with project team
- Communicate relevant project information to seniors
- Resolve/escalate issues in a timely fashion
- Communicate IT Policies and procedures to business
- Communicate relevant SLA's to business
- Track and report on project status
- Create IT presence in Business through attending meetings and facilitating appropriate knowledge transfer
- Help enforce IT policies and procedures through proactive communication
- Involve correct IT specialists at appropriate times
- Provide ongoing IT insight / expertise
- Create / collate relevant project documentation
- Document procedures/manuals/information and policies as and when required
- Set and agree budgets with IT General Manager
- Provide budget input
- Ensure expenses are in line with budget
- Identify monthly variances and correct any errors
- Receive project brief from business
- Determine project objectives, scope, deliverables, assumptions etc.
- Meet relevant stakeholders and liaise with internal and external developers / persons regarding requirements
- Apply project management processes through the phases of the project life cycle
- Apply appropriate project management methodologies
- Highlight potential risks
- Create and chair steering committees when required
- Ensure appropriate resolution for tasks/deadlines not met
- Manage effective project execution and closure
- Ensure use of relevant software (e.g., MS Projects)
Key Competencies:
Diploma or Degree/NQF level 7
Minimum Experience:
6 - 8 years of IT technology and systems development life cycle experience with 2-3+ years of project implementation experience essential. General understanding of application programming, database, systems design, architecture and infrastructure
