Job Title: Dispatch and Journey Manager Job Summary: The Dispatch and Journey Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the dispatching of goods and journey routes for the company’s transportation fleet. This includes ensuring all deliveries are made on time, optimizing routes, monitoring driver performance, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage the daily dispatch of goods, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
Assign drivers to routes based on availability, destination, and shipment priority.
Monitor and track deliveries in real-time, addressing any delays or issues.
Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams regarding delivery schedules and potential changes.
Plan and optimize journey routes to minimize transportation costs and improve delivery efficiency.
Supervise and support drivers, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular briefings and provide updates on safety regulations, new routes, and best practices.
Address any issues related to driver performance, ensuring high standards of professionalism and customer service.
Collaborate with the maintenance department to ensure all vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained.
Schedule vehicle repairs and replacements to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Maintain detailed records of dispatches, deliveries, driver performance, and fuel consumption.
Analyze transportation data and provide reports to the Operations Manager to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements (e.g., logbooks, delivery receipts).
Address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to delivery schedules or damaged goods.
Qualifications: Proven experience in logistics, transportation management, or a related field. Strong understanding of dispatch and journey planning tools and techniques. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficient in fleet management software and GPS tracking systems. Strong communication and leadership abilities. Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations. Experience in fleet management and route optimization.
