We are recruiting for a client, a start-up investment company dedicated to empowering businesses and facilitating growth in the capital market. They are seeking a highly qualified Female Accountant(for gender balance), with a passion for compliance and integrity, preferably with capital market experience or existing SEC sponsorship to ensure both financial integrity and regulatory compliance as we expand our portfolio of startup and debt investments. The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity and regulatory compliance with the ISA 2007, as well as other applicable rules, guidelines, and instructions from the SEC or Federal Government. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash flow, overseeing tax compliance, and providing support during audits. Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the Investment and Securities Act (ISA) 2007, SEC rules, regulations, guidelines, and instructions as applicable to the capital market.
Serve as a SEC-sponsored individual, acting as the primary liaison with the Commission and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
Post and process journal entries in Quick Books, ensuring all business transactions are accurately recorded.
Manage all aspects of the accounting function, including processing payments (suppliers, staff salaries, other expenses).
Prepare accurate financial statements, including the statement of financial position and statement of profit or loss and other comprehensive income, in accordance with GAAP.
Update and manage accounts receivable on a daily basis.
Oversee cash flow to ensure availability of funds, manage bank accounts, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Ensure proper filing and remittance of all tax obligations, staying current with relevant tax laws and requirements.
Support the audit process by providing accurate and comprehensive financial records to external auditors, ensuring the audit is completed smoothly.
Establish and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and misappropriation of funds, ensuring financial security and accuracy.
Implement measures to ensure financial security, mitigate risks, and monitor compliance across portfolios.
Conduct periodic audits to assess the financial health, compliance, and regulatory adherence of startup investments. Monitor financial records, expenses, and revenue trends to ensure startups align with the company's financial and compliance standards.
Manage debt portfolios by monitoring interest payments, principal repayments, and any associated financial obligations. Ensure debt investments comply with SEC and ISA 2007 regulations and that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
Develop and monitor compliance checklists to manage risks related to portfolio investments and debt obligations.
Conduct risk assessments for portfolio investments, evaluating financial stability, regulatory compliance, and reporting irregularities to senior management.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ACA/ACCA is an advantage.
Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, with a preference for candidates with capital market experience or existing SEC sponsorship.
Proficiency in Quick Books and understanding of GAAP.
Solid knowledge of ISA 2007 and other capital market regulatory requirements.
Detail-oriented, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong ethical standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
