On a daily basis, the successful applicant will be working alongside our stonemasons team on various construction sites. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Read and interpret blueprints to decide on dimensions and installation process
- Determine the materials and equipment needed for the project
- Cut, shape, and smoothen rock/stone materials using abrasive saw and power grinders
- Construct and install prefabricated stone carvings/masonry units for buildings and interior fittings
- Set and verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of structures with the aid of levels and plumb bob
- Lay and align stones according to set construction plans and specifications
- Position construction forms or mould along the guidelines of walls
- Apply and spread mortar on slabs/surfaces using a trowel
- Clean the surface of marble/stone structures using sponge, brush, water or chemical solution
- Smooth and polish stones and concrete
- Replace defective or missing stones on walls and structures
- Participate with keeping all work environments clean, orderly, and safe
- Must comply with company quality requirements
- A New Zealand Certificate in Stonemasonry (Level 4 and above) or equivalent; or
- 3 years relevant work experience in this sector
- Effectively and favourably communicate with co-workers and clients
- Be a proactive and adaptable team player
- Ensure that diversity and equality problems are addressed and incorporated into all elements of service delivery
- In all parts of daily work, pay close attention to details and deadlines
