Mō te tūnga
The Moana
clinic provides health services to the Moana and on occasion Haupiri communities,
which amounts to less than 100 permanent residents. However, Moana is a popular
holiday destination, and the town is often busy with visiting tourists. The
geographical distance that the Moana Rural Nurse Specialist (RNS) covers is the
largest of all the RNS teams on the West Coast, covering to Arthurs Pass and
Still Water. Working as an RNS at the
Moana Clinic, you will be the first - port of call - in many cases for both the
residents and tourists travelling through the area. You will provide
clinic-based services during the day - mainly primary care, district nursing and
- on-call - services as per a roster.
The service
provides a nurse-led clinic, with General Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner
support. You will have patients across the life span and will be actively
developing skills as new situations arise. This is a position for a
senior RN who has a minimum of 5 years clinical experience, preferably with
community and practice nursing and who has a good sense of autonomy and
self-direction. Post graduate study is essential especially around adult
and paediatric health assessment, and pharmacology. You will be supported to
complete further post graduate study if required.
As an RNS
you will use your assessment skills and experience to provide primary and
emergency care, with the support from the wider team, a system of standing
Orders, and PRIME training.
