Achieving the best health outcomes for women, whanau and pepi starts with expecting the best from ourselves, and right now Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau is looking for New Zealand Registered Midwives to join our primary care maternity Ward at the Kaitaia Hospital on a permanent basis.
In our small rural unit, Midwives provide care to inpatients, carry out assessments and respond to acute presentations as needed. Midwives also work alongside colleagues as required to provide midwifery support. This is a role for a midwife with high professional standards and Integrity, who wants to provide a service they are proud of.
Key Requirements
Registration with the New Zealand Midwifery council and a current APC
Communication skills
Full driver's licence
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
Evidence of recent midwifery practice, or
recent midwifery graduates - evidence of enrolment on the Midwifery First Year of Practice Programme
evidence of a Return to Practice Programme
The role:
We require Midwives who are committed to whanau-centered care that is delivered respectfully. The role requires your commitment to providing an exceptional Maternity Service to our community. You will be an important member of our Team which requires good communication skills, clinical skills and experience across pregnancy, birthing and postnatal care.
This position will be worked on a roster basis of 12hour shifts - either days, nights and includes weekends.
The registered midwife is an autonomous practitioner who:
Utilises professional knowledge and skill to provide a holistic approach to midwifery care that is safe and of the highest quality possible.
Works in partnership with women to ensure they receive quality maternity care whilst they are in hospital
Will work in partnership with women, LMCs and other members of the health care team to ensure maternity care plans are developed, implemented and reviewed to meet the needs of the woman and her baby during the inpatient stay
Will provide emergency midwifery support as required and facilitate transfers to other maternity services when needed
