Mō tēnei tūranga mahi (about the role):
Hāpai is searching for a dedicated Public Health Community Activator to spearhead community-driven activities and events that promote hauora Māori. This pivotal role is based in the Wellington area, and encompasses strategic planning, knowledge of regional and national public health landscapes, and the cultivation of stakeholder relationships. Further responsibilities include:
- Engaging with community members to grasp needs and aspirations.
- Facilitating community health promotion events and activities.
- Empowering community members to enhance population health and wellbeing through co-design workshops and other initiatives.
- Performing broad needs assessments to guide service delivery.
- Developing and sustaining robust connections with regional and national public health services.

- Demonstrated proficiency in Te Reo me ōna Tikanga.
- Proven ability to work effectively with communities, ensuring their voices are heard and addressed.
- Exceptional communications and organisational skills.
- Ability and confidence to plan and execute events efficiently.
- Deep commitment to advocating for hauora Māori and reducing health inequalities and disparities.
